For those who want to know a little bit about me, I am originally from the Boston, Massachusetts area. I am 3rd generation Canadian (French speaking province) and also 3rd generation Polish. How do I speak Spanish you might wonder? A lot of hard work, some amazing teachers and not being afraid to make mistakes! Many members of my family spoke French but I lived in a city where I could practice Spanish on a daily basis. I studied Spanish every year in Middle School to High School and then majored in Spanish and Criminology at the University of Tampa. I studied for a semester at the University of Salamanca in Spain and then then the next year I studied for a semester at the Tec of Monterrey in Queretaro, Mexico. During summers and after graduation I taught Spanish at a Spanish Immersion Program in Falmouth, MA. I then took a leap to fulfill a lifelong dream of joining the Peace Corps. I served 2 years in the small rural town of Restauracion in the Dominican Republic, and loved every minute of that experience!
Our family is new to the South Florida area but so far we are already enjoying the warm weather, beautiful beaches, great food and inspiring cultural diversity. I am so happy to be a part of the Franklin Academy team and am looking forward to a great 2016-2017 school year!
